Ambulance Paramedic

We are seeking a Fulltime Paramedic for Emergency and Non-Emergency Medical (Ambulance) Transports

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Deliver customer oriented high-quality paramedic care to each patient throughout the transport process.
  • Utilize recognized standard ALS and critical care transport (CCT) clinical protocols to provide the highest quality patient care.
  • Perform within established company practice policies and procedures to deliver the highest quality patient care in the transport environment.
  • Demonstrate the cognitive and motor skills necessary to competently operate all medical and non-medical equipment necessary to perform as noted above.
  • Monitor, record, and report to the receiving staff each patient’s condition and response to interventions.
  • Write and complete in-depth patient care reporting (PCR) utilizing ePCR software.

SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES

Successful Candidate must have the following Qualifications and Experience:

  • At least 10 years experience as a Paramedic
  • 3-5 years experience must include working in a medium to high-volume service area, with a population base exceeding 75,000.
  • Overseas or international experience is preferred but not required.
  • NRP, HCPC, AHPRA, or other similarly recognized accreditied certification required (must be accepted by Cayman Islands CPAM).
    • Canadian and US applicants must also provide a current and unrestricted Advanced Practice Paramedic/Paramedic license to practice from their domicile Province/State.
  • FP-C/CCP-C or UMBC CCEMTP, or comparable CCT certification desired or must be acquired within one year from the date of hire.
  • Current AHA ACLS & BCLS required; PALS preferred.
  • Current PHTLS/ITLS/TCCC (only one) required. ATLS/DMS/OEMS or similar certification desirable.
  • CEVO/EVOC required.
  • Dive medicine/rescue and ocean rescue certification and experience preferred but not required
  • Valid drivers license recognized by the Cayman Islands required.
  • Vast experience employing paramedic principles, practices and techniques and knowledge of how they are used in EMS/CCT operations
  • Must meet all requirements and will be required to register and be licensed in accordance with the Cayman Islands Health Practice Law – under the Council for Professionals allied with Medicine (CPAM) and be otherwise qualified to work in the Cayman Islands.
  • Exceptional computer and mobile smart device user skills required.

Excellent salary plus all immigration and licensing fees, health insurance and pension in accordance with Cayman Islands laws, and other benefits. Hiring is conditional on successful immigration work permitting and health practice licensing, in addition to possession of a valid driver’s license, the candidate being insurable, and completion of a comprehensive pre-employment physical.

ABOUT THE COMPANY AND ROLE

Cayman Islands Medevac (CIM) is Private Ambulance service that has been operating in the Cayman Islands for five successful years.  We pride ourselves in offering the highest standards of quality and safety of ambulance services, 24 hours per day, 7 days per week. Our Ambulance is equipped with a full complement of emergency medical equipment, designed to cope with a variety of patient types and scenarios, and an ambulance crew that typically consist of a Paramedic and an Emergency Medical Technician.

We are a small company with compassionate and professional medical crews. We respond to calls to take patients off cruise ships, provide ground transports for arriving and departing air ambulances, and also for medical helicopter transfers between our islands. We also transfer patients between the hospitals on island. We respond to a diverse range of calls.

Typical schedules for medical crews are 3 days on/3 days off – this gives crews tie off to engage in other activities and enjoy the beauty of our islands. Call volume in 2020 was approximately 500 (reduced due to Covid) and is expected to be around 700 in 2021. We are a growing company with plans to expand our fleet over the next few years. The Cayman Islands are Covid -free and people can enjoy life without masks!!
